      Porsche 959

Okay, I'm a Porsche fanatic, so I jumped at the chance to drive/pilot a Porsche 959 for my Class A car. The thing is amazing! AWD combines with huge horsepower and great power-to-weight ratio to create a car with incredible acceleration and handling. It currently has 450 horsepower, 369 ft-lbs of torque, and weighs only 2479 lbs.

The only problem, of course, is that I haven't tested or modified the F355 Challenge yet. It's just sitting there in my car list, waiting to make my Porsche look bad and I can't bring myself to use it. What sort of hp/torque/weight numbers are other players getting with the F355? I mean, if it's that much better then I should probably prepare one for the inevitable F355-fest on Live. If not, then I'll continue to enjoy my 959.

My hope is that the price tag of the 959 scared off most players and/or that the early success of the F355 Challenge (a free car) led to rampant copycat builds...

    2. The attribute of the Challenge, is the amazing balance it has. It has a very powerful mid torque range, this is true, but its the corners where beating the F335 will count.
I'm in the same position as you my friend, I drive an Evo VI and I have been tuning it to kill F355s. The points our sort of car can beat the Ferrari in are early acceleration and ofcourse, our drivetrain advantage. We can often hold onto lines the Ferraris will just slip off.
The best way to learn how to beat a Ferrari, is to race them online. Learn where you can take advantage of their weakness and exploit that.

My 959 does not stand a chance against my F355. To the tune of at least 2-3 seconds per lap... Actually, by 911 GT3 is also quicker by at least .5-1 second per lap. Obviously, on some tracks the gap is even bigger...

You can win online with a 959. But if you run up against a decent driver in a well-tuned F355, it is lights-out...

Great thread. Yes, i feel the same way. I am a huge Porsche Fan, and so is my family. I am deeply sadden with MS to rate Ferrari about others, especially above Porsche.... but hey, more of a challenge to tune & drive our Porsche's. All is good.

MS definately does have something going on with Ferrari. Just look at the classes a Ferrari dominates: A, S, GTS, P1. In PGR2, it was acceptable, because those are stock cars racing each other, and the Enzo was totally smited by almost every other car in that class. Now if I were a smart man, I'd be thinking that Ferrari wouldn't give MS the liscenses unless Ferrari was THE manufacturer in the Forza world. Conspiracy theory? Dunno, but I smell something fishy going on.

Personally I'll take the sexy Porsche over a Ferrari any day of the week, and my 911 GT3 does surprisingly well against an F355.
I've got enough compression to run diesel!

What if you bump the 959 up to S ? Does it stand a chance ?

      Of course.

It will beat pretty much any car until 6th gear.
