Looking at the remaining cars from the jalopnik vote list makes me happy, as long as eventually get them all.
@ ihavecandygetinthevan, agreed there's quite a lot of cars on the list that I had completely forgot about. Good to see so many of the listed cars have actually made the game. Did we get all of the cars from the FUC hidden disc files list?
Hey, you gotta remember, in the U.S., French cars aren't even sold. Peugeot was the last to go, way back in 1991. Renault vanished when Chrysler bought them out of AMC in 1987. Citroen bailed in the '70s. It's not surprising an American developer doesn't have them as a priority. They simply haven't been known for a generation here.
Its maybe because the French ravaged Europe with Napoleon Bonaparte. Thats Why T10 refuses to put French cars
How dare you talk about hatches that way.. you take that back this instant (the Abarth 600TC, Renault 5 & 11 , Peugoet 205 GTi & T16, Clio's all demand that you do, or they'll be waiting for you in a dark alley with baseball caps and hoods)
french cars I want in the game are the 205 and a110 alpine if I had to pick one or 2. I hope they don't stop dlc soon as long as they keep it up they have my $$$$$. I know everyone wants it and they say they won't do it but tracks would be nice also.... I have $$$$ for them lol give them to us!!!
@ BADNED, Don't suppose Turn 10 had the foresight to include the CTR2 Sport widebody kit as an optional extra did they?
Oh yeah we do. They're just called GM and Volkswagen. Actually that's kind of a cheeky answer. But to be more specific we did get a bunch of Aussie-made Holdens as Pontiacs (GTO, G8)... and we're about to get the police-only Caprice and SS models, which are essentially rebadged Commodores. And if you end up pretty much anywhere along the Southern border of the US, especially Texas, you'll see new SEATs. They have a dealer network in Mexico.
Well yeah, all true... But that's all not the same now, is it? Fact is, just because you don't get a specific model in America isn't a reason to not have it in Forza. As actual Holden branded Holdens. Or Countachs and F40s without butt-ugly 80's bumpers.
I'm not saying it's a practical reason, such as having to source the cars overseas. I'm saying it's a cultural issue. French cars just aren't on the radar over here, and were largely niche products even when they were sold years ago. Expecting the same depth as other European manufacturers get from T10 may not be realistic. And there are about as many SEATs in the game as there are cars from any one French marque. As far as Holden, there aren't any road cars from Holden in the game yet (2 HSVs and a bunch of V8 Supercars so far)
I mean I get your point, and I think it's mostly because we've gotten the same kind of nationalistic vibe from the Gran Turismo series... but there's no excuse for Forza not to improve on that.
I don't think it's a conscious decision, such as the GT focus on JDM. Let me use the 205 as an example: Iconic in Europe as one of the first "hot hatches," and a dominant rally car. Many people have requested a GTi or a T16. During the years the 205 was big, Peugeot sold only one car in America: the 505. Most Americans have never seen or even heard of a 205, and it never filtered its way in through tuner culture like the GT-R or WRX did when they were still exotic foreign cars to us.
+1 on the drivatars mention If that was in this game I would be torn between rivals and a drivatar career mode. for the LOLz: http://research.microsoft.com/en-us/projects/drivatar/forza.aspx
Yeah I miss that Drivatar stuff badly. I can understand we don't use it a whole lot to "train our driver" in current generations of the sim... but I WOULD like to see the OTHER AI drivers learn from--or react to--my driving style. It'd make it much more challenging and make the singleplayer races a whole lot more interesting. C'mon MS, get your wading boots on and bring that stuff back out of the muck.
Looking at all the pictures of Hudson's and Jááág's makes me wonder why there are no whitewalls. Was there ever an official statement by turn 10 about this? If not, Badned, could you shed some light on this? I'm not just talking about the full-whitewalls you see on 40's and 50's cars, but also the small white stripe seen on classic Mercedes and Mustangs for instance. A little stripe can give a car that much more elegance, shown here: Love it or hate it, whitewalls are more american than listening to Frank Sinatra while driving through New York in a Checker Marathon...
Quite focking true, that. It's not like it'd be an impossible thing to code for in the game anyway: on cars where it's appropriate, stock tires get whitewalls / white stripes, but upgraded street + race tires are all black.
If I had to choose love for French manufacturers, I would definitely choose Delahaye, Delage, and Bugatti. I don't really have a ton of interest in Peugeot or Citroen.
Whoa! Was this a concept racer like the CCGT? If not, WOW, I can't believe I didn't know they raced the McMerc
Stolen from Wiki 722 GT (2007-) The 722 GT is a tuned version of the SLR 722 which is developed for a one-make racing series. The cars are built by Ray Mallock Ltd. with approval from Mercedes-Benz. The car features new wider bodywork to accommodate 19 in (483 mm) OZ racing wheels. The front grill vents are removed and larger, free flowing air extractors sit on the hood and flank the side of the car. The rear now has a racing wing and diffuser. Under the body, the car has shed 398 kg (880 lb) and reduced its dry weight to 1,300 kg (2,900 lb) . The engine remains in relatively stock specification but now produces 680 PS (500 kW; 670 hp) and 830 N·m (610 lb·ft) at 1.75 bar (175 kPa) boost. Inside, the car is stripped out with only the essential functions being available, controlled from a carbon fiber binnacle. New carbon fiber door panels and full roll cage complete the transformation. Renntech announced 21 SLR McLaren 722 GT would be available to the North American market exclusively through RENNtech, for €795,000 (1.2 million USD).
There are a bunch of cars not on the american radar and still in the game. That's not a problem particular to french cars There is a massive lack of good french cars. Even cars which every american should know. And that is kind of unique to french cars in Forza.
Maybe T10 simply thinks they don't sell? If we can believe the rumors, the DS4 just got pulled for something more marketable.
Spencer Pumpelly actually raced one in SCCA World Challenge last year a couple years ago, for Kevin Buckler/TRG. Bit of a looker.
I love the McLaren Mercedes SLR. It's my first choice of dream car if I one day wins at the lottery or something
Clarkson made a piece on the 722 GT. Always wanted the 722 Edition and 722 GT in Forza, but I don't think it's ever going to happen :/
Seeing that car makes me think of a thread I read the other day over on FM.net where someone posted an interesting suggestion I had never thought of before. Wouldn't it be great if T10 made race body kits and/or complete race car kits available for some of the cars. I guess similar to what GT5 does via their Race Modifed upgrades for a select number of cars.
Yep. Shift 2 had the Works conversion feature for every car in the game. Sometimes the conversion was based on existing bodykits, like the BMW Z4 had the Z4 GT4 bodykit and some cars had fantasy fictional body kits. The upgrade also set the car up for you, so no need to tune every setting. It was a nice feature for sure and I hope this is something T10 look into. We've been getting more and more racing bodykits for the cars lately. Hopefully it means they're preparing for something in the future.
Hope Microsoft/Turn 10 don't stop pursuing Porsche because of the sales, they should know casuals are whiney, uncaring, unsupporting kids who will most likely be on the next COD after 3 months of FM. A couple little things make me think we will see more Porsche in FM4, particular wording from some and the exclusion of the Strassenversion. The highly demanded Porsche racecar however was not put in FM when they had the chance, even after intitially being blocked. I don't know. Also, BADNED, is the future dirty, muddy, freezing or beardy?
I was thinking last night about the thing Badned mentions every once in a while about a possible additional expansion pack or something along those lines possibly for FM4. As far as cars go Porsche was the only manufacturer they could do that with based on the thinking it was a manufacturer from previous games with a lot of models. We have lost the odd manufacturer, or tuner over the past four games but if you add all of those lost models together (not counting the missing race cars that had different liveries) the total would only compare to Porsche alone. So with that I don't think we would be seeing another manufacturer being the focus of such a pack. This then leads me to race series. We have the ALMS partnerhship and now have most of the cars from last year so an ALMS car expansion doesn't seem likely. Then there is the ELMS but since it's so similiar to the ALMS in cars/manufacturers/chasis that doesn't seem likely either. We all ready have the V8 Supercars, well at least a handful of Ford's and Holden's so again there doesn't seem to be a pack connection there. We have been getting GT3 cars without a FIA GT3 license (I think) and since the number of manufacturers is so limited and we now have 3 actual cars with a number of the remaining car manufacturers all ready having a race chasis presence in FM4 in the GT2/GTE/GTC models seeing anything but say perhaps the Nissan GT-R Nismo and Camaro GT are unlikely to be added. If we don't get the ALMS Vantage GTE car then I would add either the DBRS9 and V12 Vantage GT3 car to the possibility list as well. So that brings me to DTM, Rolex GP and possibly Nascar. I see a similar problem with the Rolex GP as ELMS and GT3 at least in respect to the GT cars so that would mean the focus would be on the prototype GP cars. So there is more potential for the DTM and Nascar. One I would have major interest in is the FIA GT1 series, not including this year of course as those cars are basically GT3 cars. If we shift focus to tracks, well, then things open up considerably. We could have a track expansion for any of the ALMS, ELMS, GT3, GT1, DTM, V8 Super Cars, Rolex GP or Nascar.
Yeah, personally I would be more than happy to buy a track pack, but at the same time I'm not really holding my breath, considering pretty much all the DLC tracks haven't ever been integrated into the career mode. Granted, it does take them a bit longer to make a track than it is to make a car, but at the same time there isn't much wrong with at least outsourcing track data from other groups (thinking along the lines of rFactor and such). Only feasible pack would be to have a vintage circuit pack with all the circuits that were cut out of Forza at various points, all with the IBL engine and such. I dunno, I don't see another expansion happening to be honest. It's all well and fine to have a lot more cars, but we've been racing the same tracks for anywhere up to 7 years now (thinking of the circuits that have always been in Forza). That's a damn long way when you think about it, and considering those guys now have another studio producing FH, surely they couldn't pool resources to create more develop a lot more tracks? At least Kaz had the right idea, still getting new tracks released for GT5/GT:A, and I'd definitely be keen to see how PD brings Bathurst to life. Also, re: body kits - I've always wondered whether having a separate class structure for production-based models and race models would work in future Forza iterations? Where if you wanted a particular production-based car to race in a particular formula, you'd have to buy a specific kit for it? And also have the option to choose between different chassis and engines like what is available for Le Mans prototypes? Would be interesting to see that sort of system implemented for sure.
Agreed, I've always thought there should be some specific upgrade you'd have to perform to push a car into the R classes, rather than just automatically get there based on performance, some cars you can get into R class are very out of place IMO without specific race mod upgrades.
