Hard to narrow it down to only 3, I have so many! In no particular order: 1988 MP4/4 A friend of the family (Who I've always called my uncle) used to own a Fina garage when I was a kid, free tickets! I grew up around this team, this car will always have a place in my heart...First ever race I went to was BTCC @ Donington in 94 I think. 2001 Jordan EJ11...who doesn't like it?
Yeah it's difficult to get down to just 3 from so many that have come and gone over the years. :? Ok first up is the Panoz GTR-1, I never get tired of seeing or hearing this awesome car and even 14 years after its debut in 1997 it still wouldn't look out of place on todays tracks. I think it was just a shame that it was forced into a premature retirement in 1999 after being succeeded by the LMP1 Roadster S. It did make a couple of welcome appearances in '03 and '04 but has been sorely missed ever since. Next is the Audi R8C that appeared just once at Le Mans in 1999 with 2 entries. It was developed separately from the open topped R8R to take advantage of the GTP regulations that appeared to favour coupe styled cars such as the GT-One & 911 GT1. Sadly it never fulfilled its promise due to its late inception but may have inspired the Bentley EXP Speed 8 which appeared 2 years later. Finally the Dome S102 that raced at the 2008 LM24h. Another car that only raced once in public but definitely left its mark on me, the S102 had only begun testing a few months before the great race and considering that its a remarkable achievement that they managed to bring the car home in 11th place. It was on the provisional entry lists for 2009 (Swiss Privateer) and 2010 (by Dome) but lack of sponsorship and the recession in Japan meant that it hasn't been seen since, but I'll never forget seeing it blast down the Mulsanne Straight powered by its Judd V10. So many more but hopefully others will choose them as their favourites.
Maybe not my all time top three, but instead I tried to pick my top three from different disciplines. 1990 - 1993 Toyota Team Europe Celica ST185 GT-Four (WRC) For as awesome as the ST205 was, I can't get over the looks of the ST185. There's just something so badass about a rally coupe that I can't get over. Sure the STI and EVO were a bit faster, but they're just so ugly compared to the Celica. I was maybe 8 years old when I saw an old rally video that my cousins had on VHS, and I was instantly a fan of the Celica, so much so that I've owned a ST185 and currently own a ST205 1978 Ferrari 312T3 (Formula 1) Gilles Villeneuve became the first Canadian to win a Grand Prix, at the Canadian Grand Prix, and did it in this car. 1991 Mazda 787B (Le Mans) The sound... 'nuff said.
